Does this happen to you?
I’m sitting at my desk, ready to work. I open up Facebook to update my Facebook page and I start working. Time passes, maybe 5 minutes, 10 minutes or even half an hour and I notice that I actually forgot what I was online for. Does this happen to you?
I’ve talked to enough people to know I am not the only one this happens too. Doesn’t happen everytime, but it does happen. Don’t you agree?
I want to share with you 3 ways you can stay focused throughout your day. Click here if you want to learn how to increase your focus at work.
Stay Focused With These 3 Tips
1. Pomodoro Technique – a time management method. This technique uses a timer to break down work into 25 minute intervals, separated by short breaks. The method is based on the idea that frequent breaks can improve your focus. I recommend checking this app out. Know what your task is. Set the timer and only work on that task until the timer goes off. Take a break and then start over. It is easy to use and works. Available for both iOS and Android systems.
2. Calm – helps you to meditate in 2 – 20 minutes sessions. Meditation has been known to help increase your focus, creativity, and physical health. I first discovered this while I struggled for weeks to get over pneumonia and looking for something that was good for my health. I’ve been using it ever since. You can choose a guided session or just use the timer only and which nature scenes and sounds best suits you that day. Available for both iPhone and Android and desktop. If you’re looking to clear your head, I recommend this. I also like to use Calm when I can’t sleep at night. I decide how long I want to meditate, turn on the guided session and without fail, I always fall asleep.
3. Adult Coloring Books – helps to relieve stress, anxiety and increase creativity. According to clinical psychologist Ben Michaelis, coloring is a stress-free activity that relaxes the amygdala — the fear center of the brain — and allows your mind to get the rest it needs. Coloring is no longer for kids. I recommend grabbing a coloring book, your favorite pencil crayons and start coloring. You can pick up coloring books at bookstores, dollar stores and even order online. To get you started, you can print off pages from my Pinterest board.
